Swamp Dog Agility Club (SDAC) of Greater New Orleans was founded in 2007 as a licensed agility club under the auspice of the American Kennel Club (AKC). In 2008, SDAC incorporated under the state of Louisiana.
THE PURPOSE OF THE CLUB
To promote and market the pleasure and rewards of working with canine companions as a team in companion events of agility and obedience. As a Club, we are committed to pursuing community service activities such as offering exhibitions, seminars and matches to increase public awareness of agility/obedience and to draw new exhibitors to the sport.
To conduct agility/obedience trials. sanctioned matches and any other events for which the Club is eligible under the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club.
To encourage the training of judges and advance the education of training techniques in the sport of agility/obedience.
To do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the sport of agility/obedience.
To promote cooperation and good sportsmanship among members in the training and exhibition of dogs.
ABOUT OUR MEMBERS
The Swamp Dog Agility Club of Greater New Orleans is
composed of enthusiastic fanciers competing at a range stretching from beginner
to the uppermost levels of agility and obedience.While some members are just starting their
journey with their canine partners, many others have long-time competition
experience and have achieved Master Agility Champion (MACH).The
same can be said for obedience competition.Concurrently, many members compete at the top levels of obedience, earning
Obedience Trial Champion (OTCH) and other notable advanced obedience
titles.Some members are AKC Judges and
many members participate in other AKC companion and breed-specific performance
to the club is open to exhibitors age 18 and over who are in good standing with
the AKC and meet the initial club membership criteria.Junior membership is also available for
those under age 18.
Each applicant for membership shall apply
using the Club's designated form.The
application shall carry the endorsement of two Club members in good standing.
All applications are to be filed with the
Membership Chairman. The Membership Chairman and the endorsing two members are
responsible to validate eligibility criteria.
Club meetings are held every other month, alternating location between
Northshore and Southshore.Since show
schedules vary greatly, so does the meeting date.
